Second Skin
-
Second Skin is applied at the end of your tattoo session to act as a barrier for your fresh tattoo which is essentially an open wound.
-
You can leave your second-skin bandage on for up to 5 days as long as it doesn't peel, thus exposing the tattoo. If you notice the second-skin is not covering any portion of the tattoo, remove it immediately.
-
Once the second skin is removed you will need to gently wash your tattoo with clean hands. Use unscented soap and running water to remove any plasma or dried ink and then allow the area to air-dry or pat dry with a fresh paper towel.
Healing Process
-
Once you have removed the Second Skin or if you did not have any on (due to allergies or preference), your tattoo is vulnerable to bacteria in your environment for 2 weeks after the tattoo-date. In this time frame you must avoid letting your tattoo sit in bodies of water (lakes, pools, hot-tubs, etc.) and directly in the sun.
-
It is important to wash your tattoo 2-3 times per day with clean hands, lukewarm water, and unscented soap.
-
Wear loose-fitted clothing over your tattooed area to avoid rubbing on the fresh skin.
-
You can apply a light-layer of unscented lotion to the area if you notice it is dry and flaking, however do not over-apply lotion as this can prolong the healing process and potentially cause an infection.

Long-term Care and Special Attention
-
If you notice increasing or excessive redness and itchiness on your tattoo please contact Shy Alexx via email.
-
In the event that you are concerned about an infection, contact Alexx Love via email and seek medical attention for proper instructions.
-
SUNSCREEN (mineral sunscreen highly recommended): once your tattoo is fully healed, the sun can still damage your skin and cause the tattoo to age/fade quickly, always be sure to apply sunscreen prior to sun exposure.
